| The companies Sony and Philips developed the audio CD in 1982. The disc consists of three materials (layers) that are applied one atop the other. |

The actual data medium is the transparent plastic made of polycarbonate onto which pits and lands are pressed in a special machine. A very thin aluminium layer is applied to the pressed side. This allows the reflection of the reading laser and gives the disc its silver appearance. A laminate layer is used as a protective layer and can also be printed on.
The printed side is also the significantly more sensitive side. The thin aluminium layer can be easily damaged. Reading of the data with a normal device is then no longer possible.
CONVAR - Die Datenretter has developed special technologies and procedures with which even media damaged in this way can be restored. |
