MicroDrives are extremely miniaturised hard drives that work with magnetic recording and can be used in all digital cameras that use CompactFlash II cards.
The mini hard drives are hardly larger than a stamp and not even a centimetre thick, but they offer amazing capacity ranging from 340 megabytes to 2 gigbytes.
Some camera manufacturers advise against the use of this memory system: The MicroDrive hard drives require more energy than flash cards, become significantly hotter than the cards and work with a mechanical drive system, making them significantly more sensitive to external influences such as a fall. |
