Multimedia Card
MultiMedia Cards are the smallest media among mobile storage devices and weigh only 1.5 grams. They are roughly half the size of CompactFlash cards.
The 32 mm x 24 mm x 1.4 mm MultiMediaCards (MMCs) are the smallest memory media of the Flash memory family. This non-volatile memory device allows fast and reliable saving to a tiny format, which is why digital cameras as well as mobile telephones, small handheld computers, MP3 players and video cameras use this memory medium.

The option to set up user ID numbers on the cards adds additional security where required for corresponding applications. The technically related Secure Digital cards (SD cards) have the same footprint, but are somewhat thicker. For this reason, MultiMediaCards can also be used in every SD card socket, however, SD cards cannot be used in a socket designed exclusively for MMC.

With an SD & MultiMediaCard adapter, SD cards can be read and written with any PC card drive, for instance with a notebook computer. An external multi-slot device is available for connection to stationary PCs, which is also well suited for use with Secure Digital memory cards.
