The two largest producers of digital cameras in the world have jointly developed a new memory card for digital cameras, the xD Picture Card.
The joint development of the new memory medium xD-Picture Card is based on technical advances in digital cameras.
Toshiba was commissioned with the production of the new memory card. The name xD-Picture Card refers to the term -extreme Digital- and should create an association with particularly good quality with regard to image, saving and transmission of audio-visual information.
The new cards are currently offered in the variants 16 MB, 32 MB, 64 MB and 128 MB.
With the extremely compact dimensions of 20.0 x 25.0 x 1.7 mm, a volume of 0.85 cubic centimetres and a weight of only 2 grams, the xD-Picture Card is currently the smallest available memory card for digital cameras.
With a memory capacity of up to 8 gigabytes in its final development stage, the new card is also well equipped for growing demands. |
